Open Media Planet (OMPlanet) is a federated multidimensional network ecosystem with free interoperable platforms and open protocols.

This is both a revolutionary ICT and a revolutionary societal project incorporating new solutions from both fields:

On the ICT field this is an effort to create a network ecosystem of interconnected users and organizations which will become a decentralized medium for free communication and exchange of social media, independent self-organization and activity planing, sharing of knowledge, services and resources. With main focus to enable the interoperability between different dimensions of web services to trigger a seamless flow of interaction.

On the Social field this is an effort to connect youth/spiritual/ecological communities, eco-villages, NGOs, non-formal educational/research institutions and many other inspired individuals new vision of life, dealing with innovative solutions for global civil society, sustainable co-living, holistic well-being and related areas. This is not an attempt to influence anyone or to promote any ideology, we find it more than enough to provide better tools of interaction, increased visibility and interconnectivity between the group of people who are motivated and caring and who will self-organize themselves dynamically to find the right vector of growth.

While this is a clean slate design and there is much space for creativity, we can see some of the dimensions that already exist here and now. Some examples include: federated social networks, p2p media sharing tools, transport/ride sharing web sites, p2p couch/garden/garage/car sharing and renting web sites, crowd-funding/micro-funding platforms, transparent banking systems, market-free exchange zones, virtual currency or bartering systems, sustainable eco-living communes, experimental settlement projects, etc.

Organisation

OMPlanet is initiated by an independent team of researchers and social workers. OMPlanet dose not belong to a profit-driven company and there is no organization owning or controlling it in a centralized way. No one receives direct credits or provides direct goods on behalf of OMPlanet. It is based on free software platforms with interoperable protocols open to all communities, organizations and individuals. To sustain itself it will need an administrative core but that too will rely on its members' voluntary contributions and take into full account their decision-making power. The free will of people will keep the project running for as long as it is useful.

OMPlanet aims to bring transparent participatory democracy. The informal purpose of the initiative is to project a vision of fair and just human affairs into all areas of human activity. Together, we have the ability to transform societies and governments by putting them into the hands of many more individuals, by providing them the freedom to self-organize and co-create sustainable and harmonious life on this wonderful planet Earth. And we are not dreamers, we want these during our lives and we offer rational solutions for it.
