Open Media Planet (OMPlanet) is a multidimensional network ecosystem that aims to connect individuals, youth/spiritual/ecological communities, eco-villages, NGOs or other non-formal educational/research institutions dealing with innovative solutions for global sustainable life, human well-being or other related fields.
This is both an innovative ICT and an innovative societal project incorporating both fields together - connecting inspired real life endeavours through open ICT platforms.
OMPlanet consists of interconnected 12 dimensions of interoperable platforms and protocols that provide decentralized medium of free communication, collaboration, co-creativity, independent self-organization, open exchange of information/services/material resources.
While this is a clean slate design and there is much space for creativity, we can see some of the dimensions that already exist here and now. Some examples include: federated social networks, communal sustainable living projects, experimental settlement projects, p2p transportation sharing platforms (car/ride sharing), couch/garden/garage sharing/p2p renting platforms, crowd-funding/micro-funding platforms, transparent banking platforms, market-free exchange zones, virtual currency or bartering platforms, etc.
The informal purposes of the project is to project a vision of fair and just human affairs into all areas of human activity, to empower people to help themselves with more understanding, cooperation and fair exchange.
OMPlanet is not a profit-driven company and there is no organization owning or controlling it in a centralized way. No one receives direct credits or provides direct goods on behalf of OMPlanet. It is based on free software platforms with interoperable protocols open to all communities, organizations and individuals. To sustain itself it will need an administrative core but that too will rely entirely on its members' voluntary contributions and take into full account their decision-making power.
The free will of people will keep the project going forward for as long as the project is useful. Together, we have the ability to transform societies and governments by putting them into the hands of many more individuals and providing them freedom to self-organize and co-create sustainable and harmonious life.
